A quiet period…

It has been a while since the last update, because things have been rather quiet around here. Our DdB female Valka unfortunately had a severe pyometra in June and had an emergency sterilization performed, so we now only have sterilized females… Therefore, we will have no puppies for quite some time, as we have no plans of adding more dogs to our pack right now. We now have 3 PBGVs and 3 DdBs and as all our dogs live with us as family members in the house, we think this is enough. ;o) So, no new dogs until some of the present dogs are no longer here, and hopefully they will all be here for some time. As of now, our dog interest is focused on our oldest daughter Selma’s juniorhandling. She just turned 14 this summer and is now competing in the Maxi-group (14-17 years), so the competition definitely…

Whiskey club champion and Ramona leaving

Good news from the PBGV show team. ;o) Our daughter Selma showed Whiskey at the Basset Club show a few weeks back, and she achieved the 4th Club Certificate – thereby making Whiskey new Danish Club Champion. Selma has been showing Whiskey since his very first show (when she was 10 years old) and we are obviously so proud of her achievements with Whiskey in the show ring – she has become a very skilled handler now at the age of only 12. ;o) Our little PBGV puppy Ramona turned 8 weeks old on Friday and has now moved to her new family. As always, the house seems quiet and empty when puppies are leaving, but we are more or less back to normal and the remaining dogs are enjoying the extra (normal level of) attention they are now getting again. ;o)

Ramona playdate

Our little PBGV puppy Ramona is 6 weeks old tomorrow. Due to the fact that she doesn’t have any siblings, we have been looking for a litter of puppies, that she could visit and play with. We were so fortunate that Kennel Tofthus (Mette Toft) invited Ramona to visit her litter of cairn terriers – 4 boys, 10 days older than Ramona. We have visited them 3 times now, once a week from Ramona was almost 4 weeks old. The last visit was yesterday, and allthough the terrier boys are 10 days older and on their own home turf, Ramona had her tail up and was curious and interested in the other puppies – so lovely to see. <3 Videos below are from the visit yesterday. Also further below a video of Ramona and our DdB female Valka. <3

PBGV puppies & DdB HD and show

As we have previously posted, our PBGV female Peanut was bred to our male Whiskey in January. We have now done an ultrasound scan on Peanut, and it confirms that she is expecting puppies, however only a very small litter. The puppies are to arrive in the middle of March. Our DdB youngsters turned 18 months in January, which means we can now do the official hip x-ray to determine their HD-status. We have x-rayed the hips of our male Krondal’s T-Rex “Hondo” and it has been set to an A on one side and B on the other side, which we are very happy about. Hondo and his half-sister Valka went to the International Dog Show in Fredericia on February 11th and did us proud by winning Best Male and Best Female. Hondo ended up as Best Of Breed and Valka as Best Opposite Sex. Valka received the last…

Update on all the dogs

Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen: Firstly, we had to make the sad decision a few months back to find a new home for Around Keeping The Dream Alive “Humle”. Humle did not thrive in the pack here and we felt that she would fit better as an only-dog in another family. We have found the perfect family for Humle and are pleased to see how she’s enjoying her new life as the only dog in the house. We therefore only have Peanut now in terms of having PBGV puppies, and we are not expecting a litter of PBGVs until the second half of 2023. Our last litter (the S-litter) now has their own page in the Our Breeding section. Dogue de Bordeaux: Krondal’s Valka has had her official status on hips and elbows and she came out with the brilliant result of HD/A and AD/0 – we are so pleased with…
