It’s about time for an update! Let me start by saying, that it is not lack of news that’s the reason for the quiet time in our news section…only lack of time. ;o) A lot has happened – first of all our latest addition to our PBGV pack; the adorable Black Majesty No Strings Attached “Peanut”. We picked up Peanut in Croatia in the beginning of March – just before the corona lock-down. Peanut is such a sweatheart with the best temper ever and she very quickly became best friends with our homebred Whiskey, who is two weeks younger. The two pups are now really enjoying eachother’s company – chasing each other from one end of the house to the other or just curling up together in a dog bed for a nap. :o) Both Peanut and Whiskey have been added to the “Our PBGVs” page, and we hope to…

Puppies born – bitter/sweet update

On January 22nd Carla’s puppies were born. Two BIG boys! In fact so big, that she couldn’t deliver them herself, and we ended up with a C-section. Everything looked fine for the first three days, both boys (one tricolor and one orange) were growing as they should – but after three days, the tricolor male started to loose weight. We off course immediately started to bottle-feed him as a supplement to Carla’s milk, but it was more or less impossible to get him to gain weight, as he wasn’t eager at all to eat and didn’t want to take the bottle. Also, his breathing seemed more strained as the days passed and finally – 9 days old – he gave up and passed away. Needless to say, we were all heartbroken for the little guy. So, Carla now only has one orange boy left, but luckily he seems to be…

PBGV puppies – pregnancy confirmed!

After two years with no puppies, we are so happy to announce that we are finally awaiting PBGV puppies again! Around Yes Powerdrop “Carla” has been bred to the lovely male Around Mixed Breed and the pregnancy has been confirmed. The scan however showed, that Carla is only carrying two puppies, so only a small litter. The birth date has been set to January 22nd 2020. :o) Our DdB female North-End Bordeauxs Akane “Vesper” was also bred in the beginning of this month, but unfortunately the pregnancy scan showed that she is empty. :o( We will breed her again in her next heat in May/June 2020 to the same male Herry Dogue del Monticano and hopefully the next time we will have more success.

We are very happy to announce that we have a planned litter of Dogue de Bordeauxs at the end of the year. :o) We have chosen to breed our female North-End Bordeaux’s Akane “Vesper” to a lovely male from Italy, Herry Dogue Del Monticano. See the entire pedigree for the upcoming litter in our Planned Litter section, where you can also find pictures of the ancestors as well as all available HD and AA results in the pedigree. Sadly – no puppies for us this time… :o( Carla was scanned this week to determine if she is pregnant or not – and she isn’t. So there will be no puppies this year.

Carla went into heat on May 26th so hopefully a litter of PBGVs is on it’s way… ;o) We will be doing the first progesterone-test on Carla on Monday to determine the right time for breeding her. And hopefully before the end of next week she will be mated to the wonderful Petit Heroes Canned Heat “Otto”. If everything goes well, puppies will arrive in the beginning of August. ;o) You can find the pedigree for the litter here.

No puppies and loosing Penny… :-(

This is an absolutely heartbreaking post to write… 🙁 As we wrote previously, both Carla and Penny were bred in December and we went for a pregnancy scan Thursday last week. Carla was empty, no puppies to be found in her. However, the vet found 3 puppies in Penny – but unfortunately also found, that her kidneys looked very wrong… She took out a bloodtest and recommended that we saw a specialist as soon as possible. We got the results from the bloodtest on Monday – and the kidney figures were EXTREMELY high. We saw the specialist on Tuesday, who told us that this was indeed very serious – Penny only had about 5% of her kidney function left. ☹ However, Penny still looked okay on Tuesday…a little tired, but that could very well just be because of the puppies, and she didn’t seem to be sick from looking at…

First of all – happy new year to everyone! :o) We had quite a busy December the last week before christmas, as both our PBGV females Penny and Carla went into heat only a few days apart and both females were ready for breeding the week before christmas! Luckily, according to the progesteron tests, they were due 3 days apart, so we managed to breed both females at the (hopefully!) right time. So, Peter started out with a trip to Oslo with Penny to meet with the gorgeous Trevor (Taglines Double The Fun with Soletrader) – and two days later he went to Langeland (Denmark!) with Carla for her rendevouz with Otto (Petit Heroes Canned Heat). Now, there is nothing left to do but keeping our fingers crossed that the breedings were succesful…we will know sometime in January, when we will be scanning Penny and Carla. If all goes well,…

Planned PBGV litters 2019 & Vesper show year 2018

In the beginning of the month, we attended the two last shows of the year with Vesper. First IDS in Herning and the weekend after, the Year End show with the Danish DdB Club. Vesper did well and was placed in the Best Female competition 3 out of 4 days, thereby receiving enough points to be awarded both “Junior Female of the Year 2018” and “Female of the Year 2018” at the Danish DdB Club – needless to say, we are very proud of our young girl, who is only 20 months old. ;o) We will now take a break from the showrings until February, when the next season kicks off. As to our PBGVs, we are planning on breeding both Carla and Penny in their next heat, which means we are expecting two litters in the beginning of 2019. We have chosen a male for Carla, but haven’t settled…

Vesper Danish Junior Champion & POAG results for the X-litter

On May 11, 12 and 13 the Danish Kennel Club had a 3-day show in Roskilde. We only showed Vesper, as Carla just had her puppies and Penny is not yet 2 years old and therefore don’t need more certificates until after her 2 year birthday. Vesper did very well and took the Junior CAC all three days – which means she became Junior Champion on the last day!! 😀 On top of that, she also managed to take the CAC two out of the three days – so she now only needs one CAC after her 2 year birthday to become Danish Champion. Needless to say, we were over the moon and very happy with her achievements! 😉 And more good news from Vesper – she has had her elbows x-rayed and received the official status: AD/0! So right now we can’t ask for more from her. 😀 Speaking…
